Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Characters: NARRATOR 1, NARRATOR 2, NARRATOR 3, GOLDILOCKS, MOTHER, PAPA BEAR, MAMA BEAR, BABY BEAR

NARRATOR 1: Once upon a time…
NARRATOR 2: There lived a girl named Goldilocks.
NARRATOR 3: Who got her name from her long, blonde hair.
MOTHER: Goldilocks!
NARRATOR 1: Her mother called one morning.
GOLDILOCKS: I’m brushing my long, blonde hair, Mom!
MOTHER: I need you to pick up some food for me in town.
NARRATOR 2: Goldilocks came down the stairs.
NARRATOR 3: Her mother gave her a list. And a warning.
MOTHER: Don’t take the shortcut through the forest. Bears live there.
GOLDILOCKS: I won’t.
MOTHER: Promise?
GOLDILOCKS: Promise.
NARRATOR 1: Goldilocks took the list from her mother.
NARRATOR 2: Then went skipping off toward town.
NARRATOR 3: And, of course, she took the shortcut through the forest.
NARRATOR 1: She should have listened to her mother.
NARRATOR 2: Soon, Goldilocks found a small house.
GOLDILOCKS: Mmm… Something smells good!
NARRATOR 3: She followed her nose and went right inside.
NARRATOR 1: There, she found three bowls of porridge.
NARRATOR 2: She took a bite from the first bowl.
GOLDILOCKS: Ouch!  This is too hot!
NARRATOR 3: Then she tried the second bowl.
GOLDILOCKS: Ew! This is too cold!
NARRATOR 1: Finally, she tried the third bowl.
GOLDILOCKS: Mmm! This is just right!
NARRATOR 2: And Goldilocks ate all of the porridge.
NARRATOR 3: Next, she went into the living room.  She saw three different chairs.
NARRATOR 1: She sat down in the first chair.
GOLDILOCKS: Ack! This chair is too stiff!
NARRATOR 2: So she sat down in the second chair.
GOLDILOCKS: But this chair is too soft!
NARRATOR 3: Finally, she sat down in the third chair.
GOLDILOCKS: Ah… This chair is just right!
NARRATOR 1: But as she rocked in the chair, it broke!
GOLDILOCKS: Oops.
NARRATOR 2: All the eating and sitting made Goldilocks tired. So she went upstairs.
NARRATOR 3: In the bedroom, she found three different beds.
NARRATOR 1: Goldilocks tried the first bed.
GOLDILOCKS: This bed is too big!
NARRATOR 2: Then she tried the second bed.
GOLDILOCKS: This bed is too small!
NARRATOR 3: Finally, she tried the third bed.
GOLDILOCKS: Hmm… This bed is just right!
NARRATOR 1: And Goldilocks quickly fell asleep.
NARRATOR 2: She was so tired that she did not hear the three bears come home.
NARRATOR 3: Downstairs, in the kitchen, the bear family found their bowls of porridge.
PAPA BEAR: Someone has been eating my porridge!
MAMA BEAR: Someone has been eating my porridge, too!
BABY BEAR: Someone has been eating my porridge. It’s all gone!
NARRATOR 1: Then the three bears went into the living room.
NARRATOR 2: They looked at their three chairs.
PAPA BEAR: Someone has been sitting in my chair!
MAMA BEAR: Someone has been sitting in my chair, too!
BABY BEAR: Someone has been sitting in my chair.  And now it’s broken!
NARRATOR 3: Next, the bear family went upstairs to the bedroom.
PAPA BEAR: Someone has been sleeping in my bed!
MAMA BEAR: Someone has been sleeping in my bed, too!
BABY BEAR: Someone has been sleeping in my bed. And she’s still there!
NARRATOR 1: The bears all looked at the girl sleeping in Baby Bear’s bed.
NARRATOR 2: Suddenly, Goldilocks woke up. She saw the bear family.
NARRATOR 3: And she was scared. Goldilocks screamed and jumped out of bed.
NARRATOR 1: But she remembered the good manners her mother taught her.
GOLDILOCKS: Thank you very much for the porridge. And I’m so sorry I broke your chair.
NARRATOR 2: Then she ran downstairs and out the door.
NARRATOR 3: The bear family looked at each other.
PAPA BEAR: That girl was too weird.
MAMA BEAR: That girl was too strange.
BABY BEAR: That girl was not right.
NARRATOR 1: And they never saw Goldilocks again.
NARRATOR 2: The…
