Beach of the god’s Sons
By Raditya Rahman
What comes to your mind when you hear the word
"Bali"? Sanur beach with its
shining sun rise? Kuta beach with its epic sun set? Or perhaps Jimbaran beach
with its sun set plus fancy seafood. Those are the most common place to visit
in Bali.
Well, based on my experience, I think about something
else, a beach far from the city, a beach carved off a cliff. A beach where at
the entrance gate, you’ll pass though a road that split a mountain. Pass the
mountain the road will turn to left, in the road curve lies a good place to
park your vehicle. There you stand high above the sea and the beach is in front
of you, and you feel the cold wind blown, cold enough that you don’t fell the
heat of the sun. A road will take you down to the beach. On the left side
you’ll see 6 statues standing inside carved cliff, the statues of 5 Pandawa and
their mother, hence the name the Pandawa beach.
Pandawa beach is located in Badung regency, South
Bali. Some people called it the secret beach, for the beach lies behind rock
and cliff, and it was hard to visit this beach, because there were hardly any
access. However, the beauty of this beach was so potential, that in 2012, the
Badung government made and access road that split the mountain and carved the
rock down to the beach. The beach is about 45 minutes to 1 hour depend on the
traffic condition.
It was 2 p.m. and i had just arrived at the beach, the sky
was clear, the wind blew cold and the sun was blazing. Hat or sun glasses was
needed, or it will be hard to see straight. Some people played with the sand,
fewer were surfing, definitely far less people compared to Kuta, and that was
the good news, the beach was very clean, just hope it will last. There were a
lot of shop, both food and souvenir, and the price was pretty fair for such
place.
The beauty of nature expanded by the power of men to
create even more beautiful nature, Pandawa is definitely a beach of its own
kind, until someone make an ever more beautiful.
