Once upon a time
in a land down under, lived a briskly Rabbit and a poky Turtle. The Rabbit was
so fast that he bragged about it everywhere he went, while the Turtle was
nowhere near him in terms of speed. Getting annoyed by the Rabbit’s bragging,
the Turtle challenged him to a race!
“You must be
crazy! You think an old slowpoke like you can beat me?” the Rabbit asked.
“We’ll see,”
said the Turtle.
The Turtle was
aware that his decision of challenging the Rabbit was never a good one and he
knew that he could never win against him. But he had a plan.
The next
morning, all the animals lined up to watch the big race. Before it began, the
Turtle approached the Rabbit while he was getting ready. The Rabbit offered him
one tasty carrot juice.
“Here have some
juice, you’ll love it! It’s carrot!” said the Turtle enthusiastically.
“Gee… thanks but
this does not mean I’ll go easy on you. You are still going to lose badly! So
better forfeit now than getting yourself embarrassed out there later!” said the
Rabbit while he drank the juice until the last drop.
“We’ll see…”
said the Turtle with a big smirk on his face.
The race was
about to begin. The Rabbit and the Turtle hurried to their places. Mayor Piggy
fired the starting pistol, and the Rabbit sped off leaving the little Turtle
coughing in his dust.
“ah-hem! Ah-hem!
We’ll see… I’ll see you in the finish line…” said the Turtle confidently.
The Rabbit ran
so far, so fast, but suddenly his eyes couldn’t stop blinking, he became really
sleepy.
“I think I’ll
just take a quick nap under this big old tree. That old slowpoke will never
catch up with me anyway!”
But the Rabbit
was so sleepy that he slept for a really long time. While he was sleeping, the
Turtle passed him by. He took a glance at him.
“Pffft… Loser!”
said the Turtle.
It turned out
the Turtle intentionally put a sleeping pill into the carrot juice that the
Rabbit had before the start of the race.
The Turtle ended
up winning the race. When the turtle finished first, all the animals yelled
“Hooray!” and the story of how he cheated has never been found out and
the
Rabbit has kept his mouth shut to this very day.
